Frequently asked questions

What exactly is a Brow Awakening?

Brow Awakening is a semi-permanent brow enhancing and perfecting process done by microblading.  In your Consultation and Brow Awakening Session your artist will get to know you and your preferences for the style of your brows.  She will evaluate your existing brows, your face shape, skin type and coloring and make recommendations for your perfect brow shape and color.  She will then work together with you to make any adjustments until you have the perfect brow shape for your face and lifestyle before she begins microblading.  In your Brow Awakening your artist use artistically perfected stroke patterns and carefully selected microblades to match your natural hairs and create the most realistic brow for you.

What is Microblading?

Microblading originated in Asia and has been further developed and perfected in Europe.  Microblading creates amazingly natural looking brows.  Your HighBrows artist can design the perfect brow for your look, fill in sparse areas of your natural brow line, and create a brow that will be beautiful 24/7; no more pencils and pomade!  Microblading allows small hair strokes to be made on the top layers of your skin with natural pigments.  The result of this process, a beautiful, natural looking brow appears.

Who’s a candidate for a Brow Awakening?

Unhappy with your brows? …. You are a candidate!  Skimpy, thin, flat, or sparse brows … You are a candidate!

 How long does it last?

Microbladed eyebrows last 1 to 3 years before they start to fade for most people. You should expect the results to last around 1 year or longer.  A lot of the staying power depends on your skin type, how well you care for them during the aftercare and the environment.  Remember, this procedure will eventually fade away.  Once you have had your initial microblading most clients renew only once per year.  We find some clients like to treat their brows to a great holiday refresh, or annual birthday retouch to enhance their look and keep their Brow Awakening looking its best.

Does it hurt?

Most clients report little or no pain! We use a topical anesthetic before and during the procedure to numb the affected area and provide the comfort we want to afford our clients.  Clients have told us other eyebrow treatments such as threading are much more uncomfortable.

What is the price?

The cost for our Brow Awakening $700.  This includes your Brow Awakening microblading and your Perfecting Session 4-6 weeks after the initial microblading.

How long is the appointment?

It usually takes around 2-2 1/2 hours for your Brow Awakening.  Most of the time is spent taking measurements of your facial proportions, drawing your eyebrow shape, and selecting the perfect pigment color to insure that we create the perfect brows for your face and preferences.  The microblading portion usually lasts 45 minutes to one hour.

How do I make an appointment?

Click the “Schedule Your Treatment Now” button above or call or text us at 214-702-9141.  Because of the level of attention needed during our clients appointments it is best to book online or text us.  If you do not see an appointment time that works for you, we do sometimes have other times that can be arranged.  Please email or text us with the time you need and we will work with you to find a time that works.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Before your appointment, we highly encourage our clients to check out our Instagram and "shop" for eyebrows on our feed.  Eyebrows come in many shapes and styles.   Our artists will work with you to customize your best brows.  In the week before your appointment, we recommend avoiding blood thinners, aspirin, alcohol or using retinol creams.

How long does it take to heal?

You'll be able to wear your new brows wherever you are going after your Brow Awakening!  The color will appear darker in the first few days than it will eventually be. This is because the pigment takes several days to enter the deeper layers of the skin.  After 7-10 days, exfoliation takes place. The top layer of the skin peels off, leaving a softer, lighter color below.

What is the aftercare?

In the first 7 days, you'll need to avoid getting them wet, working out or wearing brow makeup.  It takes about 30 days to completely heal, in which time you may experience mild scabbing or peeling and flaking in the brow area.  Stay out of the sun and water while your microblading heals. Avoid chlorine, exfoliation creams, sun exposure, or any activity that causing sweating; they could cause your color to fade.  We recommend applying a small amount of the aftercare balm we will provide you twice a day.  Your artist will go over full after care instructions with you during your appointment.

When should I get a touch up? How much is it?

We offer a complimentary Perfecting Session 4-8 weeks after your appointment.  After that, its $100 within the first 6 months; $200 within the first year.  We recommend refreshing the color in your brows every 10-12 months to keep your Brow Awakening looking fresh and beautiful.  We find some clients like to treat their brows to a great holiday session, or annual birthday refresh, to keep their Brow Awakening looking its freshest.

Can I get microblading while pregnant?

No, we do not recommend microblading while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Who is ineligible for microblading?

We do not provide microblading for people: under 18 years old, pregnant or nursing, if you have diabetes, glaucoma, skin diseases such as Shingles, psoriasis or eczema on the area of treatment, allergies to makeup, Keloid disorder, HIV/Hepatitis, skin cancer, hemophilia, or if you're taking skin medications like Accutane and steroids.

Can I get microblading if I have Juvederm injections/fillers?

We recommend getting microblading first, or ask your Juvederm/filler specialist for clearance.

Can microblading hide/cover my scars?

It's great for that! But we recommend coming in for a consultation so one of our artists can review and let you know whether you’re a candidate for microblading.

Does microblading work on all skin tones and skin types?

Yes! Microblading works on all skin tones and colors.  Check out our Instagram feed @highbrowseyecouture.

What is the difference between microblading vs. micropigmentation?

Technically microblading is a form of micropigmentation; with the Brow Awakening we use a microblade to hand draw individual hair strokes.  Micropigmentation specialists use a permanent makeup machine, which offers less control and results in blurrier strokes.

Does it look like REAL HAIR?

Yes! Because we hand draw every hair stroke, you'll marvel at this super precise technique and how realistic it looks.

No more drawing my eyebrows every morning? Can this be real?

Believe it!  This treatment transforms people's lives!  That's why we're so passionate at HighBrows about the work we do.

What if I don't like them?

To date we haven't had this problem!  Because of the extensive training of our artists and the time they spend with you creating your brow shape and color; you will have a clear vision to your finished brow before we begin microblading.  However, it is possible to wipe out the color pigment within the first 6 hours.  It has to be done before the color sets and the skin heals around it.

How can I learn how to become a microblading artist?

We offer training courses taught by HighBrows Microblading Academy.   Contact us for more information.
